Actress and executive producer Nomzamo Mbatha thanked viewers for the love Shaka iLembe received for its very first episode, a show that was six years in the making.

Shaka iLembe, which premiered on 18 June 2023, explores the story of King Shaka from childhood to adulthood. Nomzamo plays the role of Queen Nandi, the mother of the iconic king.

The show’s cast also includes Lemogang Tsipa (adult Shaka), Thembinkosi Mthembu (King Dingiswayo), Wiseman Mncube (King Zwide), Senzo Radebe (Senzangakhona) and Dawn Thandeka King (Mkabayi), to name a few.

Taking to Twitter to show her gratitude, Nomzamo tweeted the following:

“SIYABONGA. The love for episode one of #ShakaiLembeMzansi has been overwhelmingly beautiful. I know I may give the elusion of confidence without the fragments of self doubt, but this has been a brave and hard journey. We won’t celebrate just yet… 1 down… 11 to go. 8PM, Sunday 25 June 2023 CHANNEL 161.”
