Uzalo viewers can expect a captivating storyline, as the SABC 1’s most watched soapie is set to move their cameras to prison to focus on Nosipho Xulu played by Nompilo Maphumulo, as she comes back on screens.

Nompilo made her last appearance in 2023, when Nosipho was taken to prison on accusations of killing her husband pastor Gwala (played by Menzi Biyela); this plot sparked rumours among viewers that Nompilo may have been fired from Uzalo.

As much as her reasons for leaving are still unclear, it is reported that the thespian is currently shooting her scenes and will make her appearance on the show this month.

Speaking to the news and entertainment publication, Daily Sun, Uzalo’s public relations manager, Yvonne Siphuka said:

“We are thrilled to announce the return of Nompilo Maphumulo as Nosipho Xulu in Uzalo. Her comeback promises to bring heightened suspense and drama, as her character’s new storyline will be set in prison. This gripping plot is sure to captivate viewers and spark conversations. She has already started shooting, and we cant wait for viewers to see what we have to show,” she said.

A source revealed to the publication that they were surprised to see Nompilo on set.

“We never thought she would return. Hence, we were all so surprised when we first saw her. Her storyline still revolves around her jail time and outside businesses,” said the source.

Another source revealed to the publication that Nompilo will make her appearance this month on TV, they added that before she left the show she tried to convince the producers to let her stay. However, they told her that they had run out of ideas on how to expand her storyline. The source mentions that Nompilo was sad to leave.
