The South African film and television industry is gearing up to celebrate excellence once again with the announcement of nominees for the 11th Simon ‘Mabhunu’ Sabela Awards.

These awards, named after the late actor and filmmaker Simon ‘Mabhunu’ Sabela, honour outstanding achievements across various categories in the industry.

According to the IOL, the nominees for this event encompass a diverse array of professionals, such as actors, producers, directors, and technicians from the film and television industry. This is to adapt to the rising influence of reality TV shows in KZN.

Categories include awards for actors (Best Actor TV, Best Actress TV, Best Supporting Actor TV, Best Supporting Actress TV, Best Film Actor, Best Film Actress, Best Film Supporting Actor, Best Film Supporting Actress), filmmakers (Best Film Director), film genres (Best Pan African Film, Best IsiZulu Film), production elements (Best Screenplay, Best Use Of Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Use of KZN as a Filming Location), and documentary films (Best Documentary Short Film, Best Documentary Feature Film).
