Nigeria’s Ayra Starr denied yet another show due to visa complications

Fans of the Nigerian singing sensation Ayra Starr will be extremely disappointed to find out that they will be missing out on the highly anticipated In the City Ayra Starr concert.

The 21-year-old was set to be the headlining act for the event which was scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday 16 and 17 February in Cape Town and Joburg.

Among other artists that were scheduled to perform included Daliwonga and Musa Keys.

Taking to social media the event organisers shared that the main reason for her absence is due visa complications.

“We regret to announce the cancellation of both ‘In the City Ayra Starr’ shows scheduled to take place in Joburg and Cape Town, South Africa on 16 and 17 February 2024.

“Regrettably, as has happened numerous times with other artists from West Africa – through no fault of their own, visas were denied.”

Meanwhile, the organisers apologised for any convenience caused and promised attendees a refund on tickets that have been purchased.

This is the second time that the singer’s performance got cancelled, this after she was supposed to make an appearance at the annual Rocking the Daisies festival as well.

More recently she was also nominated along South Africans Tyla and Musa Keys in the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammy Awards.
