It has been less than 24 hours since the announcement of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and his wife, Rachel Kolisi and it is safe to say that mzansi is not only unpleasantly shocked but has blatantly refused to believe that the news is true. In fact, South African internet users have voiced out the possibility of officially opposing the divorce, with a petition being the first course of action.

The couple shared the devasting news with an unsuspecting audience via a joint Instagram post detailing that the decision was reached amicably. The couple did not detail the specifications that led to their separation, however, mzansi’s internet detectives have already developed a few theories.

Despite the divorce, Rachel and Siya have expressed that they will remain friends and co-parent their children in the best way possible. Furthermore, they will continue working together on the Kolisi Foundation.

The news did not sit well with South Africans, who are struggling to come to terms with reality. According to netizens, Siya and Rachel were no ordinary couple; they represented something bigger than the two of them. Their relationship meant more to the country than anyone could have imagined, as mzansi has yet to see a reaction of this magnitude to a divorce announcement.

Some netizens have demanded Siya and Rachel to sort their differences out, if not for their sake, for the sake of the country, with some going as far as offering therapy.

Guys. Do you think we as a country can contest the divorce, purely on the grounds that we don’t want it? I’m just asking

Other users have suggested that our president, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa should address the nation and allow a public holiday in order for the country to mourn the end of the Kolisi’s appropriately. In true mzansi fashion, the jokes are flying around as netizens find humour in a tragic situation.

As expected, some have already started speculating about what really happened for the couple to decide to call it quits and netizens seem to believe that Siya had been less than faithful to Rachel on a couple of occasions, however, this has not been confirmed by the couple or any close sources.

Some users have admitted to only believing that Siya is in the wrong specifically because he is a Xhosa man from Gqeberha, and according to these users, that’s what they are notorious for.

Infidelity and cheating will keep destroying families because some men can’t control themselves. Look at Siya Kolisi, a man who failed to uphold the dignity and honor of his marriage showing true weakness. No amount of money and trophies can make up for the loss of integrity.
