2025 is looking good for KwaZulu-Natal-born singer Naledi Aphiwe who recently passed her matric with a bachelor’s pass and soon after, she released a song, Romeo & Juliet featuring Mawelele which sparked a lot of conversations around the internet.

Naledi rose to fame in 2023 when American-based singer, Chris Brown featured her on a song. Life has since changed for her as she finally got to meet him in person last year during Chris Browns Johannesburg concert.

The song, released after meeting Chris, quickly surpassed a million streams. While the theme revolves around love, inspired by Shakespeare’s iconic Romeo and Juliet, it’s not just about the struggles of romance — it’s about joy, devotion, and the promise of forever. However, fans and social media users are still trying to piece together the puzzle of whether she is in a relationship with Mawelele.

The two young hitmakers continue to share pictures of themselves with sweet captions, Mawelele took to his Instagram to celebrate reaching a million streams in ten days. While mentioning Naledi in his caption, he wrote, “Queen @naledi_aphiwe_ we did it, 1 million in ten days.”

Social media users flooded the comments with their thoughts on the song, with many sharing that they listen to it daily because they love it so much. Some said the song came at the right time as it is setting the mood for Valentine’s Day.

One user wrote, “Love this song so much I have listened to it now almost 10 times I didn’t sleep waited for midnight, I know I understand anything besides the English part but my soul and heart understand.”
