Sbusiso Leope, better known as the self-proclaimed hustler DJ Sbu, is continuing to rubbish claims that he is the masked artist Mzekezeke. This comes after the deejay shared an image of Canadian rap superstar Drake with Mzekezeke at Black Coffee’s sold-out Madison Square Garden show.

Mzekezeke’s identity has been hidden for decades, with many suspecting the man behind the mask to be DJ Sbu. The Kwaito artist entered the music scene in the early 2000s with hits like Amakoporosh, Guqandamadolo, and more.

On 10 October, DJ Sbu took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Saturday was crazy at @MADISONSQUAREG3 @RealBlackCoffee brought out all the stars in New York City even the real King of Kwaito & one of the creators of Amapiano @Mzekezekemusic, [he] was there with @Drake.”

After seeing the image, many social media users took to the former Friends Like These host’s comments section.

One user wrote, “I was going to believe that you are not Mzekezeke till I saw that MoFaya [DJ Sbu’s energy drink].”

Seeing all the comments about Mzekezeke’s supposed identity, DJ Sbu simply stated, “I AM NOT MZEKEZEKE,” while also reposting a video of himself conducting an interview with Mzekezeke.
