‘My jaw is still on the floor’ – Mzansi reacts to pantsula dancers using man as skipping rope

Surely it is incidents like these that birthed the famous Xhosa saying that goes: ukuhamba kukubona, loosely translated as ‘to go is to see’. Who would have thought that a human being can be used as a skipping rope in a dance routine?

Mzansi was left gobsmacked upon seeing a video of four pantsula dancers who were performing their dance routine in a taxi rank using another dancer as a skipping rope. In the clip, two men are holding the skipping rope man on his feet and arms and swinging him for the other one to jump.

This clip left many wondering what that yellow thing is, while others were concerned about his wellbeing and if he is still alive. It seems like their unusual dance routine did not only shock the internet users, because the people who were watching and are captured on the video seem in disbelief.

TikTok user with username: @adoree081 took to her TikTok page to share this shocking dance routine, and used the now famous sound of Sobonana Emathuneni by Sandisiwe Mthambo as a sound to the clip. The sound usually comes up in death threatening situations, as the name of the sound translates to “We’ll see each other at the graveyard.”

In dismay, TikTok users took turns to share their views on the comment section.

Grace Mondlana said: “What?”

TikTok user said: “South Africa is not for beginners.”

Another one asked: “Guys I’m so serious, what is the yellow thing?”

While another one asked: “Is he still with us?”

“My jaw is still on the floor,” said TikTok user.
