Orlando Pirates aiming to defend their title

Pirates booked their place in the last eight after beating Milford FC 3-0 at Orlando Amstel Arena on 27 October 2026.

Tshepang Moremi scored twice in the second half, while Thapelo Mokobodi also found the back of the net to help the Buccaneers secure their quarter-final spot.

The Soweto giants are hoping to continue their strong start to the 2026/27 campaign and add another trophy to their collection.

Sekhukhune United determined to turn things around

Sekhukhune United reached the quarter-finals after defeating Richards Bay 3-1 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on 25 October 2026.

The team will be looking to put its previous results against Pirates behind it. The two sides have already met three times this season, with Pirates winning all three encounters.

However, Sekhukhune will be under new leadership, with Papi Zothwane having taken over as head coach following Cedric Kaze’s departure.

According to SABC News, Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has warned his players not to underestimate their opponents, describing the upcoming encounter as one of the most difficult matches.

Papi, meanwhile, has expressed confidence in his team’s preparations, acknowledging the challenge of facing the defending champions.

What is at stake?

The match is a single-leg quarter-final, meaning the winning team will advance to the semi-finals, while the losing side will be eliminated from the competition.

Pirates will be hoping to keep their title defence alive, but Sekhukhune have an opportunity to upset the holders and move closer to lifting the trophy.

The match kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 7 November 2026, at Orlando Amstel Arena.
