Controversial blogger Musa Khawula who is famous for bashing celebrities on social media will remain behind bars while the police officers validate his home address.

According to Sunday World, this was announced when he appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court recently. Musa is scheduled to make his second appearance in court on the 21 of January 2025, where he will be expected to verify his home address and make a formal application for bail.

The publication reports that in the meantime Musa will be detained in Johannesburg Prison famously known as Sun City until his next court appearance.

The self-proclaimed ‘pope of pop culture’ made his first appearance before the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court, after he was nabbed in a local tarven in Dundee, KwaZulu Natal following a tip-off.

Earlier, Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed to news publication Sunday World that Musa was arrested recently.

“Police can confirm that the suspect was arrested in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, after a warrant of arrest was issued against him. He is expected to appear before the Newcastle Magistrates Court, where the matter will be transferred to Gauteng. He is facing a charge of contravention of the Cyber Crime Act,” said Mavela. He also confirmed to City Press that detectives from Gauteng were dispatched to pick Musa from Newcastle.

This is not Musa’s first run with the law, he previously spent 90 days in jail for contempt of court following his refusal to comply with a defamation verdict obtained by ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula’s wife Nozuko, which barred him from posting corruption allegations about her on X.

He was also prompted by a court order granted to Zenimdumise Ze Nxumalo by the Johannesburg High Court earlier , instructing him to retract the statements he made on his X (formerly Twitter) feed following his unfounded allegations of Ze cheating on his wife, Dr Tamryn Green-Nxumalo.
