Mom in ICU, woman rejoices defeating family

A South African youngster named Tumi sparked outrage on TikTok after celebrating her stepmother’s hospitalisation in the ICU.

She received a text message informing her about the situation and responded with a video of herself dancing, captioned “POV: Your abusive stepmother is having lunch with her ancestors. A win is a win.”

Tumi claimed to have been tortured by her stepmother for over a decade, which seemingly justified her reaction in her mind.

Family members expressed their anger and disappointment towards Tumi, scolding her for her viral post. One relative said, “Tumi, if anything happens to Mama, you will be responsible for it, because we are busy praying here and you are busy rejoicing. What’s wrong with you?”

Tumi remained unbothered, stating “Dad will buy another stepmother” and ignoring further messages from family members.

She continued to update her TikTok audience, even sharing a message from a relative informing her about her stepmother’s passing. Tumi’s response was detached, saying she wouldn’t attend the funeral if it were held at her stepmother’s house, but would send people to support.

Many South Africans questioned the legitimacy of Tumi’s story, especially given her bio stated “Just for fun, nothing personal.” This led to speculation about her true intentions and the nature of her relationship with her stepmother.

One said: “Tumi my dear whatever you said in your prayers I copy and paste. I can’t wait for my mom’s sisters.”

“Waiting for my dad’s sister. God I see what you doing for others. I remain faithful that you’ll do it for me soon,” wrote one.

Another one said, “I’ll never downplay someone’s pain. You have a valid reason for feeling this way and the people around you are sick for pretending that all is well when you’ve gone through so much trauma. Sending you so many hugs and all the comfort.”

The incident highlights the complexities of family dynamics and the varying ways people cope with trauma and stress. Tumi’s actions, though seemingly callous, might be a reflection of her past experiences and emotional state.
