Members of Podcast and Chill with MacG, MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho, Solomzi “Sol” Phenduka and the famous Ghost Lady, had a discussion on their podcast about DSTV channel Moja Love‘s decision to fire Sizok’thola show presenter Xolani Khumalo recently.
Xolani presented a drug bust show that brought a lot of viewership to the channel as many people shared on social media platforms the need for a drug-free country.
Xolani’s woes started when it was announced that an alleged drug dealer had died after suffering complications stemming from how he was manhandled by the show’s presenter. A case was opened leading to him receiving bail to the amount of R10 000.
Speaking of this current trending topic, Sol shared that the channel was wrong for what they were doing to Xolani, adding that they did him “dirty”. The team also discussed how Moja Love confirmed that Xolani was in danger after receiving confirmation that a hit was sent on him for causing havoc in the drug dealers’ lives. Since he is now fired, that means he is without the protection they offered him.
“Moja Love can’t just keep, whenever sh%t hits the fan, putting up a statement and dissolve themselves,” said MacG. The team also commended Xolani for doing an amazing job with Sizok’thola, adding that if Xolani was to be fired, then the whole team should go with him, from commissioning editor, program editor to everyone who was part of making the show.
The Podcast n Chillers also mentioned that they wanted to have Xolani on the show, but Moja Love refused, adding that the channel knew that drug dealers were tortured during ad breaks to get them to speak.
