Mapitsi played by actress Mogau Paulina Motlhatswi, and DJ Thomas (played by Tiisetso Thoka) have been the talk of the town, following their cheating scandal on SABC1’s Skeem Saam.

The duo, who are fondly known as ‘ThoMapi’ because of their on-air radio chemistry, were colleagues from a local radio station, Berry FM, where they have been exposed on air for their extramarital affair by Mapitsi’s ‘frienemy’, Kamo, played by Mulalo Ndou.

This cheating scandal has incited talks on the social media platforms, with some wondering if it was Thabo (Hungani Ndlovu) who cheated on Mapitsi, would he be crucified?

Speaking to City Press, Mogau said the outrage on social media meant that she did her job well, and the story was believable.

“I read up on people who had been cheated on and people who were the ones doing the cheating, and why they did it. I was trying to figure out what pushes you to that point, what the emotions are, and how it happens. Is it something that happens all at once, or does it happen gradually? I then worked in line with what the writers had planned,” said Mogau.

She disclosed to the publication that a while ago, she once had an intense confrontation, where a viewer pulled a knife on her.

X (formerly Twitter) users weighed in on the Mapitsi storyline.
