The Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MK party), led by former president Jacob Zuma, has condemned Floyd Shivambu’s visit to controversial pastor Shepherd Bushiri’s church in Malawi.

This is after Floyd who was the co-founder of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) shared a video of him and Shepherd at his church for Easter church service. This act sparked political controversy, as the self-proclaimed prophet fled mzansi after he was accused of rape and fraud.

The MK party said their Secretary General visited the Frightened Christian Gathering in his personal capacity.

“The party wishes to make it unequivocally clear that this visit was not sanctioned, endorsed, or initiated by the leadership or any official structure of the MK Party. The Secretary General undertook this visit in his personal capacity and without the mandate or acknowledge of the party,” read the statement.

Floyd re-posted a video shared by Shepherd on his X (formerly Twitter) page where he can be seen entering the church building filled with church congregants with the self-proclaimed prophet and his entourage. In his caption, Floyd expressed his gratitude to Shepherd for hosting them and for the kind words. And praised his hard work economically, educationally, socially and spiritually.

Thank you my brother, Prophet Bushiri for hosting us and for the kind words. The government scale amount of work you do to economically, educationally, socially and spiritually uplift our people is unparalleled now and in history.

I know that the leadership and people of Malawi… https://t.co/A7x2SSHQWF

This left many X users wondering why Floyd visited Shepherd’s church, and some shared pictures of Shepherd with Floyd and Jacob.

I so wish I can understand as to what is the intended gain in sharing a platform with Shepherd Bushiri?. On the face of it, without privy to the reason thereof, I think Cde Floyd, you have made a serious political blunder here. Remember, you are the engine and the face of MK…
