Miss Pru Responds to “Fallen Off” Comments and Shares Her Vision for 2026

by Zaghrah Anthony

South African DJ and producer Miss Pru, born Prudence Sebalo, recently addressed comments suggesting she has “fallen off.” In a candid Facebook post, she spoke directly to fans and critics, offering insight into her evolution as an independent artist and the direction of her music.

Turning Criticism Into Reflection

“To those who keep saying I ‘fell off,’ I see the comments, I’ve even glanced at some of your profiles and lol, but I’m not going to feed into negativity,” Pru wrote. She explained that every artist goes through cycles, some of growth, some of struggle and for her, it has been about navigating the music industry as an indie artist.

Fans responded positively online, applauding her transparency and maturity. Many highlighted that her honesty about the challenges of staying independent was refreshing in a scene often focused on fame and chart positions.

Finding Her Spark Through Mixing

While Pru admits there are moments when her creative spark wanes, she credits her mixes as her grounding force. “Whenever I dive back into doing my mixes, it reminds me why I started in the first place. That’s my foundation, and it keeps me grounded,” she shared.

Her #GrooveRoster mixes have become a touchstone for fans, offering a glimpse into her current musical mindset while keeping her connected to the scene.

Gratitude to Loyal Supporters

Despite stepping back from social media, Pru expressed heartfelt thanks to her followers: “To those who continue to ride with me through all my ups and downs: thank you. Your support doesn’t go unnoticed. Even though I’ve been more intentional about stepping back, I still see your love, and it means everything.”

Her openness has sparked discussions across Twitter and Instagram, with fans celebrating her authenticity and dedication to her craft beyond the pressures of public scrutiny.

Future Music Plans and 2026 Vision

Regarding new music, Pru revealed that while she has shifted focus away from hip hop for now, she hasn’t completely ruled it out. “Honestly, part of me resisted because of the path I’m on now, but if the right record comes along, I’ll drop one last one. That’ll be in 2026,” she said.

Until then, she intends to dedicate herself to her mixes and exploring creative spaces that reflect her current artistic truth.

A Career of Impact

Best known for hits like Ameni, Price to Pay, Phumelela, and Ugesi, Miss Pru has left an indelible mark on South African hip hop and house music. Over her 11-year career, she has received numerous awards and nominations that attest to her influence as both a DJ and producer.

Reflecting on her journey, Pru previously noted, “The past 11 years have been a learning curve. In the first couple of years, I learned how to improve my DJing skills. Then, I was mentored by someone, and fortunately, I got to meet many people in the industry. Every two years or so, I get to learn something from different people who would help me get to where I am right now.”

Beyond Music: Building Businesses and Community

Pru’s creative energy extends beyond music. This year, she celebrated the second anniversary of her beauty spa, Sedi Beauty Wellness, which has become a platform for connecting with her community and fans outside the studio and stage. The spa reflects her dedication to holistic wellness and entrepreneurship.

Miss Pru’s recent response is a reminder that careers aren’t linear, especially in music. By embracing independence, creativity, and authenticity, she continues to redefine her journey, proving that “falling off” is often just a pause before the next chapter.
