Minnie Dlamini weighs in on Mac G saga -pursuing legal action

by Nomonde Simelane

After sending the whole of social media into a frenzy, controversial figure Mac G has issued a public apology to the women in South Africa, whom he offended with his comments on Minnie Dlamini. He has also invited Minnie to Podcast and Chill to reconcile.

Following his unprovoked and unwarranted comments, and speculating about the reason why her romantic relationships do not seem to last by saying “I’m telling you man theres currently something wrong about her, maybe her coochie smells or something,” and sending the nation into a frenzy, and garnering the misogynistic tag, Mac G has issued a public apology. Furthermore, the media mogul extended an olive branch to Minnie and invited her to the Podcast and Chill set,  in hopes of some sort of reconciliation.

After remaining silent on the matter, and letting her loyal supporters and feminists at large fight this battle for her, the media personality has spoken out via a statement, stating that the comments made by Mac G were not mere banter as he defends himself, but rather a “grotesque, harmful deeply harmful violation of my dignity, humanity and constitutional rights as a woman.”

Furthermore, she reveals that she received an apology from Podcast and Chill via their attorneys, however, she deems it a little too late, as the damage has already been done. Minnie highlights how the apology gives off a disingenuous tone, as the infamous podcast has made misogyny a big part of their brand, and continues to victimise undeserving and unsuspecting women.

Interestingly, the popular presenter has revealed that she will continue to pursue legal action as far as the matter is concerned, as a nod to not only herself, but all the women who continue to be violated in this way, in the name of content.
