MaXhosa dabbles into fashion world of ‘Amabhinca’

Laduma Ngxokolo was introduced to South Africa and the world via his luxurious fashion brand, MaXhosa, which has become one of the must-have brands among our elite figures. The brand has expanded into the homeware space with MaXhosa Lifestyle, and their latest project is one to look out for as they dabble into the unique world of amabhinca.

Amabhinca are a distinct group of Zulu men, and recently women who deeply embrace their culture, from ideologies down to the music they listen to, called ‘Maskandi’. Due to the rise of social media, this group of men and women have become extremely popular in South Africa and the world at large, particularly for their fashion, including the famous ‘Brentwood’ brand.

Ironically, the MaXhosa brand, which has gained its notoriety for embracing and highlighting the Xhosa culture, has chosen to partner with and explore the world of the Zulu culture, further perpetuating the ‘frenemies’ relationship between the two cultures. The esteemed fashion brand has announced the release of their ‘Bhinca’ inspired handtowels, denim pants and bags, with the hand towels forming part of their lifestyle collection.

A stunning display of Isintu:

A great celebration of culture in their unique blend of tradition with a touch of #MAXHOSA through the use of the #MAXHOSA hand towels and the denim pants and bags.

Laduma’s seamless ability to marry elements of the Zulu and Xhosa cultures has brought forward a considerable product that has received a satisfactory reaction from mzansi, as users continue to express how impressed they are with the venture.
