Media personality Maps Maponyane has opened up about his experience on The Masked Singer SA season one after being unmasked.

The TV personality who rocked the tree mask stated that he was glad he got unmasked as keeping his identity a secret was a difficult task; he had to ignore people who suspected he was behind the mask.

“What an experience! Definitely one I’ll never forget. I’m glad I don’t have to hang onto this secret anymore. It was so hard lying to/ignoring people (including family and friends) who would constantly ask if I was the Tree and pretending I had no idea what they were talking about.

He continued by thanking everyone who showed love and support for the Tree.

“Thank you to everyone who watched, and for all the love you showed Tree. Getting to do all of that in front of an audience, while having fun and surprising myself in the process definitely felt like I was living out one of my childhood dreams,” he wrote.

Anele gave Maps his flowers as she congratulated him on his amazing performance.

“You were magic!!! Season two I need you as a guest detective please,” she wrote.

To which he responded: “Count me in.”
