Kwaito star, Sandile Ngwenya, popularly known as Mapaputsi, has been laid to rest after suffering a short illness.

According to news publication, TshisaLIVE, Mapaputsi’s manager, Busi Kunene recently confirmed the news, “He has passed on. We’ll issue a press statement and host a media briefing in due course.”

His death comes after rumours circulated online saying that he was bedridden, which he then posted rubbishing those claims.

He said, “Where are they, where are they say I’m bedridden? Excuse me, I’m in Durban, if you want to book, book, see you soon, I’m in Durban having a good time. Where are they, they are lying about me, I’m in Durban, their news about family saying I’m bedridden I don’t know.”

Speaking on his passing, a close source told the above-mentioned source that despite showing signs of improvement it seems that his body gave up, adding that, the star had been looking forward to his festive gigs.

ZiMoja adds that the star was recently buried in Heroes Acre Greenside, Johannesburg. His estranged wife thanked people for their support, adding, “My children are hurting and this week has been incredibly tough. I never imagined I would be raising them alone, I ask for help from Sandile’s friends in raising his boys.”

News publication, Daily Sun states that those in attendance were close friends and industry giants were the people such as Ronnie Nyakale, Mercy Pakela, Israel Makoe, Motlatsi Mafatshe, DJ Sbu, Nhlanhla Lux, Dumisani Dlamini, Jairus Nkwe, former Joburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda, and Mzambiya.

Speaking at her father’s funeral, his daughter, Nhlanhla Ngwenya remembered him as a loving person with a sense of humour.
