Manaka Ranaka emotional at late daughter‘s graduation ceremony

by Zintle Mdaka

Multi-award-winning actress Manaka Ranaka recently accepted a diploma on behalf of her late daughter, Katlego Ranaka, at Ekurhuleni Agricultural College.

Katlego, who passed away due to natural causes on the 23rd of January, graduated posthumously with her Diploma in Animal Production. Walking the stage in an emotional ceremony was her uncle Ranaka Ranaka, with her mother dressed in graduation regalia while holding a candle for Katlego.

Taking to her Instagram page, Manaka proudly shared that she is the mother of a graduate, and she will ensure that Katlego’s dream lives on. “So proud of you my angel. You did well. A whole qualified animal farmer,” she penned.

At her memorial service, Mr Baloyi, a spokesperson at Ekurhuleni Agricultural College said Katlego was meant to finish her Diploma in Animal Production at Ekurhuleni Agricultural College on the 31st of January.

“She was a member of the representative committee and a natural leader. She was doing animal production and was going to finish her third-year diploma tomorrow, Friday the 31st of January. Her classmates are finishing tomorrow at school. That makes the timing of her passing more painful to us as a college. Our mandate and business are to train students to make an impact in the South African community. We want them to make a big difference, so the sudden passing is sad,” he said.

Instagram users weighed in:

Media personality Refilwe Modiselle said: “Oh Sis sending you so much love. We are super proud of her. Though in the heavens we celebrate her milestone. It’s your graduation as well.”

Another user said: “May God comfort you and give you all the strength so you get through tomorrow and every other day you cannot get out of bed or get through the day.”

Actress, Nthati Moshesh added: “Sending you light and hugs.”
