One of South Africa’s most well-known sports fanatics Joy Chauke has called the alarm for authorities to let go of the President of the South African Football Association (SAFA) amid legal proceedings.

Danny who holds the head position at SAFA along with his co-accused, Safa CFO Gronie Hluyo, and director of Grit Communications Trevor Neethling, recently appeared before the East Rand court on allegations of fraud involving R1.3 million. This comes after it was alleged that the footballing frontman used the money for personal benefit.

Last month the national stated that the trio currently faces charges of three counts of fraud, three counts of theft, and conspiracy to commit fraud and theft.

Following their arrest last month, the trio were later released on bail. In the recent appearance in court, they have now appealed that the case against them be dropped, however, this was unsuccessful.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Joy Chauke, affectionately known as Mama Joy shared pictures of herself at a venue different from that which South Africans are used to. This came as she was in attendance the court proceedings where she stood firm in support of Danny.

In her post she pleaded with authorities to let the SAFA president off the hook.

Captioning her post she wrote: “Supporting my president at Palm Ridge Magistrate court. I still say, hands off my president Danny Jordaan.

“I am asking court to drop the charges. Have patience and wait for court to prove that he is guilty for now hands off,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, those entering the comment section has criticised her stance when it comes to the case.

“So, the court must drop the charges but in the same breath ‘wait for the court to prove he’s guilty’… What exactly are you smoking mama?” asked one user.
