Multi-award winning singer and songwriter, Lerato Molapo popularly known as Lira celebrates one year of singing after she was silenced by a stroke attack.

The Let There Be Light singer was attacked by a stroke while in Germany, which affected her ability to speak, read and write. The songstress has proven that she embodies the lyrics of one of her hits titled, Something Inside So Strong; as she triumphed over many challenges that came with the attack.

Her resilience and determination saw her serenading her supporters with her soothing voice one more time. Recently, Lira took to her Instagram page to reflect on the first time she performed publicly after suffering a stroke.

“It’s a year since I’ve been singing post stroke,” she rejoiced. She recalled in her post that, she performed for the first time in the public space at last year’s Mother’s Day at Nirox Sculpture Park, alongside Maleh on the 12th of May.

Instagram users and industry colleagues joined in on the inspirational moment.

One user said: “You are the reason I believe in God’s favour and love.”

Another one said, “Witnessed this, brought us all to tears. You were amazing.”

While another one said: “We give glory to God for His mercy and grace upon your life. May you continue healing permanently. Amen.”

Meanwhile, when Lira celebrated her first musical comeback, she said.

“This was surreal. I never thought I would be singing so soon. I’ve worked hard, but there are times when the progress was slow. Now I know you can achieve anything you put your mind to, just do the work daily. I’m proud of myself. I’m experiencing the season of being proud of myself. It was emotional, I cried many tears, and I released much. Tears of pride, joy and triumph,”
