Former Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni took to her social media page to address the inquisitive internet community about asking inappropriate questions regarding pregnancy.

Taking to Instagram, Liesl stated the following:

“If you post any comment on my page alluding to pregnancy or any of those kinds of things, I’m going to block you and I hope other people also block people that comment inappropriate nonsense like that. Aside from the fact that in the year of our Lord, 2023… where have you been? You know we don’t do such things, right? We don’t ask someone if they are pregnant. We don’t ask someone if they want to have kids. We don’t ask someone, ‘When are you having a baby? You know you got married now [imitates a laugh].’ We don’t do that.”

The pageant queen then adds that not asking people about such personal details is something that needs to be taught to the older generation.

“As women, our bodies go through so much. So, no Jennifer, I’m not hiding my pregnancy or pregnant. I’m actually bloated because I’m on my period because that’s what happens to women. You as a woman should also understand that. On the flip side of this whole thing, if someone is for any reason keeping their pregnancy between them and their family or them and their husband, it’s not your business. Wait until they are ready to tell you.”

She concluded, “So, stop it. This is your Aunty Liesl telling you very politely hou op (stop it).”
