Actress Letoya Makhene-Pulumo recently shared her reasons for leaving SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy in 2021.

According to the South African, Letoya Makhene-Pulumo told TshisaLIVE that she didn’t leave on bad terms. Her main reasons for leaving was the desire to try new things and focus on her other talents.

Letoya who recently just landed a role in a Netflix film said that she absolutely loves the film and it’s partially why she made the decision to leave Generations: The Legacy.

“Not because I didn’t enjoy it or I didn’t appreciate the platform that I had. We are talking about working 12-hour days and that is outside early morning, when you wake up and when you put those together. We are literally working for 16 hours.”

She also revealed that the actors starring in the soapie have no life outside the show, with many stars spending countless hours rehearsing scripts over and over again.

As previously stated, Letoya left the show also to focus on other talents. Aside from being a talented actress, Letoya is also a singer, songwriter and traditional healer. With the high volume of hours put into Generations, she felt as if she needed more time to get back in touch with her many other talents.

The actress recently secured the role of Kenzie Miyeni, a damaged woman, in the Netflix film Home Wrecker.

She is reportedly grateful to have landed a role where she can showcase her range as an actress.

The film focuses on Letoya’s character, Kenzie Miyeni, who is on a mission to steal Tamara Oliphant’s (played by Mbali Mlotshwa) life.
