The once-happy marriage between South African actress and TV personality Letoya Makhene and her wife Lebohang Pulumo Keswa has hit the skids.
In an explosive interview with Sunday World Lebohang claimed Letoya physically abused her and cheated on her with an alleged drug dealer and another woman. She reportedly also lamented the couple’s financial distress.
Lebohang explained that she wrote a letter to Letoya’s family to explain the violent incidences and the reasons why she wanted to dissolve the union.
The report stated Letoya responded to the letter and agreed the marriage had disintegrated. The actor stated irreconcilable differences as her grounds for wanting to end the relationship.
Letoya and Lebo tied the knot in 2022 in an African-themed traditional wedding and have made headlines about the ups and downs in their marriage over the past couple of years.
IOL reported in 2023 that the couple hit back at the claims of abuse, and said they did not need to explain anything to anyone.
In the same year, Letoya had the name of her spouse tattooed on her ring finger, the Sunday Times reported.
Letoya was a contestant on the first Idols South Africa. At the tender age of 17, she recorded Nginje, with legendary SA performer, the late Brenda Fassie.
She went on to star in the much-loved local soapies Isidingo and Generations: The Legacy. She also trained as a sangoma (a traditional healer), according to the HeraldLive.
Lebo is a Joburg businesswoman.
