A police officer has received praise from many after making a strict decision to shut down Groove.

Groove is a colloquial term used in the streets of South Africa to describe the vibrant nightlife. This is often characterised by loud music, continuous dancing as well as alcohol consumption.

The officer, identified as Colonel Khumalo has recently taken it upon himself to shut down a club in Maboneng. This is part of an operation to crack down on businesses operating illegally in the Gauteng Province.

A video of the incident was shared by the South African Justice, Crime Prevention & Security, who captioned:

“A salute to Colonel Khumalo for his unwavering commitment to safety and order in the streets of ‘Maboneng’, Gauteng Province.

“His dedicated enforcement of trading license regulations ensures that liquor and entertainment establishments close on time, while every patron makes it home safely. Leadership in action, serving with integrity.”

The video shows the colonel walking toward the DJ booth where he unplugged many of the sound equipment in an effort to issue a stern warning. Also in attendance at the event was none other than radio personality DJ Fresh who was happy to comply with the rules.

Meanwhile, those in the comment section acknowledged the colonel for the positive work he was doing.

“If he is doing a great job, I think he should be a commissioner,” commented one user.

Personally what makes me happy is that there’s no one who showed any sign of disrespect to Khumalo.

It is very difficult to deal with half sloshed youth, but here even with influence. They showed maturity ??
