Lasizwe opens up about why he left Youtube

by Sergio Miller

Social media personality Lasizwe Dambuza has finally made his comeback to the platform that once left a sour taste in his mouth.

After a ten-month hiatus from the video platform YouTube, the 25-year-old recently made his comeback.

In January he announced that he was pulling the plug on his channel which has gained more than 700 000 followers after experiencing a difficult 2022.

In a heartfelt video at the time, he said:

“Making this video has been so difficult for me as YouTube is my first home. Thank you to everyone who has supported and helped me grow in my YouTube journey, but it’s time we say goodbye to this chapter and let’s make room for a new era.”

However, the content creator has made his return to the platform and introduced a brand-new passion project called – Awkward Dates.

In an interview with DJ Sbu on The Hustlers Corner, Lasizwe shared more about his new passion project as well as what led him to taking a break from YouTube.

“I was off YouTube for a year because YouTube was something that became a dark space for me because people started coming onto the platform for the wrong reasons.

“To drag other people, to clout chase … and that just left a sour taste in my mouth. I ended up in hospital. I was depressed. I was going through the most,” he said.

Meanwhile Lasizwe hinted that the UK YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg’s show Chicken Soup Date was something that inspired him to come back, and with a little twist he was able to make something Mzansi would love.
