Showing one’s vulnerable side is not an easy thing to do, more so for those who find themselves in the public eye. Musician and businesswoman Lady Du shared her vulnerability after she took to social media to reflect on the time she attempted suicide as well as thanking the woman who saved her life.

Revealing that it has been three years since she tried to harm herself, Lady Du, whose real name is Duduzile Ngwenya, shared on Instagram that during that time in her life. she was “going through a lot.” Fortunately, a woman – who has since been appointed to run Lady Du’s beauty business – saved her during her darkest moment.

“The reason I praise God every single day of my life and live such a simple life is because I was given a second chance, in that second chance God showed up personally and changed my whole life,” wrote the amapiano star. “One thing I take pride in doing is thanking people that played a part in my life. She [the unnamed woman who saved Lady Du] now runs my business. It’s nothing compared to what she did for me but may God continue to bless her.”

Sharing a life lesson too, Lady Du concluded, “When you feel like everything is falling apart, that’s when God is at work. If I came out strong, you can pull yourself out of it and let God direct you. The devil is always waiting to find you weak. I say this every single day: I live to serve God no one else. I thank God every single day for saving my life. I wouldn’t be here doing such great things. I’m living my purpose and that’s the biggest gift.”
