It seems like the Johannesburg-born star Tyla’s outfit for the Met Gala created a lot of back and forth on the internet.

Tyla wore a dress made of Balmain Sand which was designed by a French designer, Olivier Rousteing which he later cut into a minidress for the Met Gala after-party.

Whilst a lot of people admired the Grammy award winner’s dress, amapiano artist Duduzile Ngwenya professionally known as Lady Du bashed the dress in an Instagram post comment section.

She wrote, “Lady Du’s comment on Instagram regarding Tyla’s outfit choice said, “Imagine if she came wearing African print MAXHOSA!! That would have been a showstopper, but this is also fire!!”

It did not take a while for internet users to call her out on X (an app previously known as Twitter).

The backlash led to the Umsebenzi Wethu hitmaker writing an apology post on X explaining why she said what she said, “I’m a huge supporter of local brands I commented without knowing what’s going on as y’all know I don’t do red carpet events at all. I’m not informed on a lot of things.”

Guys let me apologise I didn’t know what the theme or occasion was, I saw after I commented. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m a huge supporter of local brands I commented without knowing what’s going on as y’all know I don’t do red carpet events at all. I’m not informed on a lot of things. I’m…

X users commented saying they forgave her, however, others trolled saying they did not accept the apology.
