Khaya Dladla pulls out of Mandoza 25th anniversary over unpaid fees

The Nkalakatha Road to 25 Years celebration, held in honour of the late Mandoza, faced major problems, as actor Khaya Dladla pulled out due to payment disagreements with the event organisers. Khaya, who was set to host the event, left after failing to reach an agreement over his fee.

According to ZiMoja, Khaya also demanded to be removed from all marketing material that was shared on social media without his approval.  “These people called for a meeting, asking that I host the event. I happily gave them a discount because it was a great initiative and I linked them up with some of my contacts because this seemed like a big event, But it’s highly disrespectful to then get a call after seeing my face on the poster saying I would only be making an appearance and my fee has been dropped. I mean, why not conclude all this with me prior? This shows a high level of unprofessionalism from the organisers,” Khaya told the publication.

Despite the payment issues, Mandoza’s widow, Mpho Tshabalala, remains committed to celebrating his legacy. Speaking to IOL, Mpho, who oversees the Mandoza Foundation, explained the significance of the event.
