Kenny Kunene’s ‘fishy’ media house draws side eyes from readers

While serving his suspension as Johannesburg’s MMC for Transport, Kenny Kunene has become the talk of the town after an article published by his media house gained some side-eyes from readers regarding its credibility.

From socialite, to motivational speaker, teacher, activist, convicted criminal and most recently, a politician, Kenny Kunene has lived a full life and worn many hats. Currently, he has fully immersed himself into South Africa’s world of politics, and holds a position as the deputy president of a Gayton McKenzie-led Patriotic Alliance.

Unfortunately for Kenny, he is currently serving an indefinite suspension from all party duties after getting caught in the cross-hairs of the high-profile criminal case when he was found at the residence of Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe when the police came to arrest him in connection to the 2022 hit of the popular DJ Sumbody.

When asked why he was at an alleged murderer’s residence, he explained that he was there in his capacity as a journalist, and was facilitating an exclusive interview for journalists that work for his African News Global media company.

Kenny’s story doesn’t make any sense.

He claims he was sent an address by the an intermediary but jiki-jiki he says that he and the ‘journalist’ arrived together with the intermediary.

Months later, the same media company has become the the main topic on social media after publishing a story headlined “EXCLUSIVE: Mkhwanazi’s thugs kidnapped me and three kids, tortured me for days, says Katiso Molefe’s nephew”. This article has garnered immense attention and criticism, as readers who combed through it found a number of discrepancies, including spelling and grammar errors, as well as some contradictory information.

Highlights of this article –
In the heading the victim is a nephew.

By the beginning of the first paragraph, she is a 40-year old woman.

In paragraph 4, she is suddenly actually dead.

And she has completed a grand tour of all police stations in the country.

Riveting stuff. https://t.co/n82i0qaJPo

I would have taken this story seriously if you had attached the medical report and a sworn affidavit.

The biggest challenge with your publication is that you haven’t done any stories in forever, plus you were found at the Molefe home. You seem to know this family very well. https://t.co/wpuhnhZRXA
