Amid the excitement and celebration of Kelvin Momo’s selection as the next headliner of Red Bull’s popular Symphonic orchestra event, he, along with some friends of amapiano, could not help but remember the late Yallunder, as they believe she would’ve made a great addition to the line-up.

This March saw the amapiano world come to a standstill after news of Yolanda Nyembezi’s death broke. The young songstress, who was affectionately and professionally known as her alias Yallunder, passed away at the age of 30 at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital after a prolonged illness. The news came as a devastating blow to South Africa’s music industry as a whole, because Yallunder had proven to be someone to look out for,  as she had bagged features in various fan-favourite tunes such as Kelvin Momo’s Langa’elihle and Uku Khanya, as well as Kabza de Small’s Bawo.

Recently, popular energy drink company Red Bull revealed that their highly popular Red Bull Symphonic event, which Kabza de Small became the first artist to headline in South Africa, would be returning. In even more exciting news, the brand announced that they had secured the one and only Kelvin Momo as this year’s headliner, causing an immeasurable amount of excitement through the amapiano world.

However, amid the excitement and anticipation, Kelvin Momo alongside many friends and supporters of amapiano could fully relish the moment as they could not help but remember a talent gone too soon in Yallunder. Kelvin remembers the tight bond he shared with Yallunder, while supporters of the genre highlight how the songstress would have pulled off a breathtaking performance, as her voice was made for events such as these.
