Monique Muller, the ex-girlfriend and mother of South African TV presenter Katlego Maboe’s child, has found herself in legal jeopardy.
The 29-year-old was arrested last Sunday in Ravensmead, alongside five others, for possession of an illegal firearm, as per reports by The Son Newspaper.
Reports indicate that their arrest may be connected to alleged gang affiliations in the area, adding severity to an already complex situation.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed Muller’s arrest, stating that her involvement in the incident has culminated in charges for illegal possession of a firearm.
Muller, who has been in custody for nearly a week, appeared before the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on October 21. During this preliminary court session, her case was remanded to a later date, set for October 30, according to Cape Argus.
This development not only raises questions about Muller’s current circumstances but also recalls the tumultuous history between her and Maboe, which played out publicly in 2020.
Theirs was a relationship fraught with allegations of infidelity and domestic abuse that culminated in a very public break-up.
Maboe’s career suffered considerably; he was removed from his role as a presenter on the popular Expresso Morning Show, was no longer nominated for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA), and advertising campaigns featuring him for OUTsurance were taken off air – an abrupt and dramatic shift for the beloved television figure.
