DJ Zinhle and the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ daughter Kairo Forbes came out victorious at the South African Social Media Awards ceremony where she won Social Media Kid Influencer of the Year. Kairo won against opponents such celebrity kids Sbahle Mzizi, DJ Ach Jnr, Alakhe Mdoda and Siba Bogopa.
Kairo is a celebrity in her own right, boasting a whopping 1.4 million social media following on Instagram. It is no surprise why this little star got her flowers at the award ceremony. Kairo is not just a celebrity child, she has a watch and jewellery business sold through her mom’s ERAbyDJZinhle company. She is also a brand influencer working with big brands such as Nedbank, Cotton On and many other companies.
The Social Media Awards, on its third year since its inception, aims at celebrating those who take time to create content that either educates or leaves us in stitches through social media.
Hosted in Johannesburg’s Sandton, Kairo attended the awards ceremony with her aunt, DJ Zinhle’s sister Gugulethu Mtshali, AKA’s mother Lynn “Glammy” Forbes and other family members including her cousins.
All geared up in their halloween costumes, the family screamed at the announcement of Kairo’s name by the presenter. Dressed as The Addams Family character Wednesday Addams, Kairo and her squad took to stage to accept her award.
Accepting the award while her father’s song Company played in the background, Kairo greeted everyone, adding:
“Thank you for coming and supporting me, I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me, my mom and my dad who always looks after me, thank you.”
Sharing Kairo’s Social Media Kid Influencer of the Year win on social media, her page posted:
“We did it Glammy!!! Thank you to mom, dad and my family for all your love and support, to everyone who voted for me, especially The Megacy and to @smawards_za and @canonrsa thank you for honouring me with the Social Media Kid Influencer of the Year award ???.”
