After disappointing himself and his fans with a positive result on a banned substance, bowling phenomenon Kagiso’s road to redemption has started on a good note as walked away with five wickets in his the Proteas’ latest showin g against Australia.

In terms of sports in the country, this year has had its fair share of ups and downs, ranging from memorable victories, gut-wrenching loss, stories of resilience, as well as our favourite athletes’ blunders on display for all to see. Kagiso Rabada was no different, as news of his positive test result for a banned substance, which was later revealed to be cocaine, quickly spread throughout media and various social media platforms.

After keeping a clean record since stepping on to a cricket pitch, the 30-year-old bowler found himself embroiled in his first career scandal, in what he described as a moment that was far from his best during a m

In efforts to gain back the country’s favour, as well as prove his dedication and commitment to his craft and career, the fast bowler carried the Proteas on his back to pull off a historic performance, coming away with his 17th test five-for in the World Test Championship (WTC). This remarkable game led to Kagiso surpassing fellow mzansi legend Allan Donald to become South Africa’s highest wicket-taker in test cricket.

Although his latest scandal had casted doubts in the minds of those who once trusted him, his latest showing seems to have reiterated and cemented his place as one of South Africa’s all time greats. Furthermore, due to this impressive performance, Kagiso has etched his name on the exclusive and elite Lord’s  Honours Board in gold, joining Gordon Greenidge as the only other member of the club.

In true South African fashion, Kagiso’s accomplishment has been greatly celebrated by fans of the sport, as well as some patriotic individuals who will stop at nothing to see mzansi sports succeed. Despite his recent blunder, it appears that both Rabada and South Africans are ready to move on, as there is much to look forward to as the WTC continue.

Man, Kagiso Rabada really has lived up to every hope I had when I first saw him play. After Dale Steyn, we had no right to have another fast bowler this good, this tough, so soon.
