Julius Malema weighs in on Floyd’s demotion: “Yena aya kwini “

Shortly after the news of Floyd Shivambu’s demotion as Umkhonto We Sizwe’s (MKP) Secretary General, merely six months after his appointment hit the streets, his former leader and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) co-founder Julius Malema weighed in on the matter.

Six months into his tenure as MKP’s Secretary General, and after jumping ship from the EFF, the political party he co-founded with Julius, South Africa came to a standstill, when the Jacob Zuma-led organisation revealed that Floyd would not be continuing his duties as their SG.

“The national officials have come to a decision to redeploy commander Floyd as the secretary general of the party, and redeploy him to the National Assembly,” announced Nathi Nhleko, the MKP’s national organiser.

This unexpected move has given rise to a multitude of conversations surrounding the former SG’s political career, including whether or not ditching the EFF was the beginning of his eminent downfall. It is no secret that his tenure in the MKP has been anything but smooth sailing, as it has been characterised with instances such as Duduzile Sambudla-Zuma, an MKP member of parliament labelling Floyd as “useless” and calling him “the worst thing that has happened to the MK Party”.

Just like the rest of the public, his former colleague and dear friend Julius Malema watched in what one would assume is amusement, everything going down. As their relationship spans all the way back to their days in the ANC Youth League (ANCYL), some members of the public couldn’t help but  wonder what the EFF’s CIC thoughts are on Floyd’s predicament.

During a press conference with various publications, the CIC revealed that as he does not work with Floyd in any capacity, he has opted to not get involved, citing that Floyd and his issues are none of his business.

“Yena aya kwini (where was he going), so it’s not our problem,” Julius says.

Furthermore, Julius has reiterated his confidence in his young MPs, including the likes of Sinawo Tambo and Sihle Lonzi, who have been making waves as of late, particularly for their work during the ongoing portfolio committee proceedings. According to the EFF leader, his young boys are ready to take on the likes of his former friend, and should not think that he will be given the time and space to impose himself or undermine the EFF.
