Fatherhood is usually one of the best experiences a man can have, and for the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, this is one of the things that gives him a purpose in life.

Julius, best known for being a charismatic leader who always speaks his mind regardless of the backlash that would come his way, recently took to social media showing followers a different side to his personality.

In a heartfelt post, he shared a touching message wishing his son, Mushavi a happy 18th birthday.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote:

“Happy Birthday Mushavi Ratanang Malema. It’s your special day, and you’re finally legal.”

He added: “I’m so glad to have fulfilled my promise to the departed to watch over you until you can stand on your own. You’ve always been such a well-behaved and respectful kid, and I know that won’t change.”

Adding some advice from his experiences, he encouraged his son not to trust anybody and avoid being dragged down by society.

“Stay true to yourself! Whenever I felt like giving up, I looked at you and my grandmother and found the strength to keep going. You’re my inspiration, along with your brothers and Mmago the boys. Keep up the discipline and respect, and always greet everyone in the room regardless of age or social standing.”
