
Singer and songwriter, Jimmy Nevis has recently been unveiled as the famous face behind the ‘Boombox’ mask following his elimination. This is just a week before reaching the finals of The Masked Singer South Africa.
Among the judging panel which includes; J Something, Somizi Mhlongo, Sithelo Shozi and Skhumba Hlophe, only J Something had a correct guess of who is under the ‘Boombox’ mask.
Born as Matthew le Roux, the chart-topping singer took to his Instagram page to share his experience on the show. Jimmy described the experience as crazy, wild and mostly fun.

The 7764 singer said in his Instagram post, that rapping Jack in the ‘Boombox’ suit and pulling out his club moves has been the highlight of his career so far.

Speaking to the entertainment publication, SowetanLIVE, the Athlone superstar said, “I’m generally a private person and initially I thought this was not my kind of thing. I soon warmed up to the idea of being on the show and realised that this could help me get out of my box and have some fun.
“Singing with the mask on was quite challenging because of the size of my mask. I was strapped with a built-in fan. I was sweating and out of breath most of the time- at some point I felt like I needed to go to the hospital. I know I’m being dramatic but to be honest, I had fun.” he added.
