Jasmine Tookes Makes History: Pregnant and Radiant at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

by Zaghrah Anthony

Pregnant, Proud, and Breaking Runway Rules

In a moment that sent social media into a frenzy, Jasmine Tookes walked the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, nearly nine months pregnant and stole the spotlight in a way the fashion world rarely sees.

Wearing a nude lingerie set paired with a fishnet overlay and iconic gold angel wings, Tookes cradled her baby bump as photographers snapped and the crowd erupted in applause. “It’s going to be a blend of what we loved from past shows and something new and modern,” she had told Who What Wear ahead of the show. Modern, indeed.

For decades, pregnancy was something to hide on the runway. Models were expected to conform to a single ideal: tall, ultra-thin, flawless. Baby bumps were off-limits. But Tookes’ confident stride made it clear: fashion is finally human again.

A Cultural Shift in Fashion

This moment didn’t happen in isolation. Fashion has been undergoing a quiet revolution. From Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty shows, which celebrated every body type, to red carpets where pregnant celebrities wear couture unapologetically, the industry has been redefining beauty.

Pregnancy is no longer treated as a private or unglamorous phase. Today, the bump is a symbol of strength, femininity, and self-expression. Gone are the oversized tunics and muted colors; in are body-hugging dresses, daring cut-outs, and designs that embrace life and confidence.

Tookes’ appearance is part of this evolution. Social media erupted with admiration:

  • “She is glowing and making history! 🙌✨”

  • “Finally! Representation that matters. Proud of you, Jasmine!”

  • “This is what empowerment looks like!”

It wasn’t just a fashion statement, it was a cultural message that says women of all stages, shapes, and sizes belong on the runway.

The End of One-Size-Fits-All Beauty

The “Victoria’s Secret Angels” of the early 2000s represented a narrow vision of beauty that many studies now show had a psychological toll, contributing to body dissatisfaction and depression among young women. But the tides have shifted.

Today, runways feature plus-size models, models with scars, vitiligo, stretch marks, and disabilities, reflecting real bodies and diverse experiences. Jasmine Tookes stepping out pregnant, confident, and radiant is a healing moment for fashion, signaling that the industry can embrace authenticity without compromise.

Rihanna summed it up best:

“When women get pregnant, society tends to make it feel like you hide… but you’ll get back there and I don’t believe in that sh*t.”

The runway is no longer just about clothes. It’s about psychology, self-acceptance, and empowerment, sending a clear message that beauty comes in all forms, stages, and sizes.

A Runway Moment to Remember

Watching Jasmine Tookes open one of the most-watched fashion shows in the world, baby bump on full display, is more than a headline. It’s a cultural shift, a celebration of life, confidence, and the changing face of fashion.

In a single walk, Tookes reminded the world: pregnancy is powerful, beauty is diverse, and the runway belongs to everyone.
