While the rest of the world celebrated Valentine’s Day, Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune remembered his loving sister, Mapula Khune.

The 27-year-old content creator passed away in a house fire in March 2021.

According to reports by TimesLive and Daily Sun, Mapula had been sleeping in the back room next to her grandmother’s main house when the fire broke loose, resulting in her body being burnt beyond recognition.

At the time, it was reported that a 17-year-old was taken into police custody in connection with the occurrence but was later released. Since then, the footballer has made it his duty to remember his sister on her birthday which coincides with Valentine’s Day.

Taking to his Instagram page, her older brother Itumeleng remembered his sister in a heartfelt tribute.

“Wishing my angel sister a happy birthday in heaven. I know you’re watching over us with love from up above. My heart is filled with memories of you today.”

Attached to the post was a picture of Mapula along with a media placard with a headline that read, “Khune’s family pain.”
