In an interview with Lifestyle and Tech, Mpho Lengane, the executive producer at Barkers Media, shared insights into the inspiration behind Ubuthe Uzobuya.

“Every episode features captivating stories, with a common thread: runaway spouses often find peace in leaving their somewhat comfortable lives for spaces where they feel more appreciated by a new partner. We’ve seen that many men who leave their spouses feel scolded or unappreciated, while women often leave due to infidelity, financial issues, or even physical abuse,” said Mpho.

The idea emerged during the filming of Ngi Shade Wrong, where they uncovered stories of individuals who left their homes for the city in search of better opportunities, often leaving their families behind.

Mpho further shared with the publication that Tshepo was chosen as the host because he makes people feel comfortable and helps them open up. His ability to resolve conflicts and his quick wit make him a great fit for the show.
