Although his exit from parliament brought about much joy from South African citizens, it appears former minister Bheki Cele is still on the minds of many South Africans as they weigh in on a trending video of the former minister enjoying his time away from office.

As a minister in numerous portfolios, Bheki Cele was a controversial figure to the public as his words and actions often did not resonate with the citizens he was appointed to serve and protect, which grew increasingly during his tenure as the Police minister. During his time, Bheki Cele made his disdain for alcohol and groove spots publicly known, going as far as encouraging the president to prohibit the sale of alcohol and close down places that sell it.

In a surprising turn of events, the former minister was spotted in a now trending video, appearing to be at an event or place where people drink and have all kinds of fun. Upon stumbling on this video, many internet users were quick to call the former minister out for his blatant hypocrisy as he once questioned what kind of fulfilment people get from attending such places and events. Furthermore, these users have pulled out receipts of Bheki Cele calling for the extension of the alcohol ban placed by the president during the lockdown in 2020.

Conversely, others have come out to defend Bheki Cele, citing that how he spends his time is no longer the concern of the citizens. These users have also defended the former minister and said that he is merely having fun.

The man is just having fun, enjoying life like we should all do.

Other users have also voiced concerns over the age gap between Bheki Cele and the woman he is seen in the video who has been identified by some users as his wife Thembeka Cele. These users note the courage and bravery some women have and the things they are willing to do with older men with significant wealth. Others have posed the question of whether the former minister no longer feels that his life is in danger, as he had requested a security detail at the expense of taxpayers.

Is he no longer afraid for his life or does he have bodyguards now ? https://t.co/BLl07fwMk3
