Former South African president, Jacob Zuma, revealed several eyebrow-raising proposals he wishes to pass should he become president again. One of those proposals, which received a huge response from the internet, was exiling pregnant teenagers to Robben Island.

No longer a part of the African National Congress (ANC), the controversial politician is now the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader and is already sharing what he has in store for the future ahead of the 29 May national election.

While addressing a crowd in Maqongqo, a village outside Pietermaritzburg, Jacob reportedly stated, “According to the law, a child should not give birth to a child, that’s not life, it’s a disease. We will end it.” The 81-year-old also stated that they will build a university on Robben Island for the pregnant teens to finish their studies.

However, according to The South African, there was no mention of what would happen to the babies born nor those who fathered them.

The former president also announced plans for free education, the reintroduction of corporal punishment and forcing young men to join the military.

After hearing about the potential plans to banish pregnant teens, some internet users took to X (formerly Twitter) to question his plans.

Bro seriously underestimates the number of teen pregnancies. Robben Island isn’t big enough Tata.

Then again we know numbers really ain’t his thing. https://t.co/5DuR88F2DU

Reason why I keep saying no politician should be in office after 65 years, senility will make you forget you contributed to current problems your country has…

Oh yeah ostracising the already traumatised kids is the solution instead of arresting old men who are r*ping these kids and getting them pregnant🫠 https://t.co/99e6Eb7jm1
