Internet reacts to Cyril Ramaphosa allegedly receiving ‘voting prayers’

With the 2024 National Government election only being a stone’s throw away, South African citizens are weary of the lengths that some of our politicians would go through to put themselves in good light.

While this year officially marked the 30th year since South Africa became a democratic country, many believe that there is not much to celebrate over the last 30 years. Instead, some believe that we face even greater challenges than before.

In addition to this, many have criticised President Cyril Ramaphosa for praising the ANC for its contributions to our society when he addressed citizens at this year’s annual State of the Nation Address (SONA) held in Cape Town last month.

Here the president introduces the country to the well-renowned Tintswalo, who he believes is one of the born-frees who successfully benefited from being led by an ANC government.

Despite, this being criticised by the public who expressed that this was far from reality and a means for gaining votes – the present has been at the center of discussion yet again.

This time a video circulated on Instagram in which the president can be heard preaching a sermon to the congregation of Fire Tabernacle Prophetic Ministry Church in Ekurhuleni before bowing his head to receive prayer.

Those entering the comment section were not moved by the president’s submission many believed that it was another political stunt for votes.

“Now I have seen it all. Are we praying for votes now?” commented one user.

Another added: “Content Creators [Clown emoji].”

While a third responded by saying that South Africa is a comedy state. However, not everyone shared these sentiments. Some also saw this way as the president bowing in humility by confessing his mistakes.

“Thank you for blessing our president,” one user wrote.
