Internet praises Davido for donating a whopping R3.8 million to Nigerian orphanages

by Sergio Miller

Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke could easily have earned himself heroic status in his home country.

Despite being born in Atlanta Georgia, in the United States, the singer and producer has always it clear that he has a great love for his home country Nigeria, and identifies as being Nigerian more than being an American-Nigerian.

This comes after the 31-year-old who goes by the stage name Davido announced that he will be donating three million naira (equivalent to R3.8 million) to various orphanages across the country.

Taking to social media the Na Money hit-maker wrote:

“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria… as my yearly contribution to the Nation… details of disbursement tomorrow”

Later the singer shared a screenshot revealing that the money had been paid into his account and ready to be distributed.

Taking to the comments many X users were astonished to discover just what a big heart the singer’s heart really while others explained that giving to those in need is something that the singer has been doing for a while already.

Davido has been giving to the orphanage long time ago, it didn’t start today.

May God continue to replenish your pockets.

You’ve done far better than the Government.

However, there have been others who were not impressed by his announcement adding that he made similar promises before but failed to live up to it.

Davido the public is yet to hear from u regarding the N20m for 20 people giveaway; U are making new promises but haven’t fulfilled ur old pledge(s)? There’s also the Tule challenge. It’s not about hype, making new donations doesn’t write-off old debts, that’s not how it works… pic.twitter.com/V954rYq2C3
