Tony Forbes, father to the slain 35-year-old rapper AKA, has recently spoken out about where he believes things went south in his marriage.

The grandfather of Kairo made his appearance on a Within the Hazel podcast in which he openly spoke about a number of topics ranging from his life growing up in Cape Town, becoming a father, the passing of his eldest son Kiernan as well as his marriage to his first serious love Lynn Forbes.

The two have been married for 20 years and share two sons, before eventually deciding that they will have a divorce. In his reflection on where things might have gone wrong in his marriage, Tony shared that he was to blame.

In the interview, Tony praised Lynn for being an amazing wife throughout the years of their marriage adding that she gave him the confidence to do great things including opening his own business.

He later said that with time they slowly started growing apart, which was mostly as a result of his behaviour.

“With Lynn and I, after 20 years of marriage, I wasn’t the best husband, let me just put this out there first. I think her (Lynn) primary love language was spending time. In our relationship I think Lynn valued quality time. At the time I was not spending quality time with her… I was doing me,” he explained.

This later led to the end of their relationship with Tony starting a new family.

“I think I remarried after like four and a half years; I remarried in 2010. And for my sins, I have a nine-year-old daughter. So, I have a 35-year-old, a 30-year-old, and a nine-year-old. And an eight-year-old granddaughter,” he added.

Despite their past Lynn previously revealed that the passing of their son Kiernan has brought the entire family much closer than before.
