‘I was addicted to sex’ – Cassper Nyovest

by Bongiwe Mati

Family Tree label owner, rapper and Billiato liqueur owner Refiloe “Cassper Nyovest” Phoolo recently visited content creator Mpoomy Ledwaba’s podcast where he shared how he was addicted to many things, including sex, and also touched on his newly-revived Christian ways.

The record label owner, who recently bought himself a white Mercedes-Maybach GLS, was the life of the party before announcing he wanted to live in a way that honours God.

Recently celebrating 10 years of his Doc Shebeleza hit song, the singer acknowledged that he lived a wild life before God took it over.

In a chat with Mpoomy on her podcast, Cassper shared:

“The devil had me, he had me so deep. Everything was validated and I could negotiate why I was doing it. I was addicted to sex, I had such a big ego, I thought I was better than everyone else. But I was humble in the sense that I wouldn’t offend anyone. I’m a good person so anything that I do is fine because I am a good person, right? I was headed straight for hell if I didn’t have that wake-up.”

He then explained that it was through everything that was going on in his life that he had an encounter with God, adding:

“He put me in a place where only He can save me. I grew up in a Christian home, so I thought I knew God because my mom knows God, because my grandfather is a prophet.”

The Bonginkosi hitmaker reiterated that he needed to know God on a personal level outside his upbringing.
