Renowned YouTube podcaster Mac G has opened up about his feelings concerning the recent axing of the Podcast & Chill show on DSTV.
In March this year, it was announced that the Podcast & Chill show would be one of eight of mzansi’s most “influential and disruptive” podcasts that were set to break the mould by bringing in the real, raw and energetic conversations straight to your TV screens. However, this promise appeared to be short-lived as the show has recently been cut after two months since premiering on the television screens on the 9th April.
This has sparked an online conversation on whether this might have been influenced by his recent defamatory comments on television presenter Minnie Dlamini. However, this has since been laid to rest by Lufuno Maliavusa, CEO of Leading Edge Growth, DStv’s digital distribution partner.
In a statement, he explained that the departure of Podcast & Chill is nearing the last few episodes in the coming weeks. This therefore encourages Multichoice to make provision for fresh and exciting content to replace them in these slots.
Meanwhile, Mac G has since opened up about his feelings towards this and hinted that, because of DSTV’s professionalism, he is certain that the company did not release him because of the recent comments, nor does he believe that it was because of an alleged group that was focused on sabotaging his career.
Speaking about DSTV to the entertainment publication Citizen News, he said:
“They believe in the vision and the idea that we can exist side by side and create something meaningful together. It’s a real partnership.”
On his axing, he added: “Honestly, I’m not unbothered. I feel things like anyone else would. But I also know this expansion into TV is way bigger than me.”
With the other shows under the Podcast & Chill network not affected, he remains hopeful for the future and is grateful for the support received by fans.
