The news of Natasha Thahane and the father of her child Thembinkosi Lorch breaking up was shared by the actress on her social media, causing an internet frenzy that lasted a few days with some speculating the reason for the break-up.

The award-winning Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder and Natasha have always kept their relationship private, only sharing individual images when attending the same events or on vacation.

In a social media post that was closed for comments, Natasha shared:

“Thembinkosi Lorch and I have mutually decided to part ways romantically. Despite the change in our relationship, we will remain friends and co-parents. I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life. #NewBeginnings.”

Soon after Natasha’s breakup announcement, internet users brought forward rumours that the soccer player was in a relationship with former The Queen actress Lorraine Moropa.

With the internet creating another trend comparing the two ladies, Natasha also shared what many saw as a response to the new rumours. Through her social media stories, she wrote:

Suba Muncu (don’t be stupid)!!! This happened a long time ago, Now let me post in peace! Aibo “heal” animeni (just stop).”

She added: “I am grateful I came out alive.”

Many internet users saw the actress’s post as a sign that she was also abused by the soccer player who was recently found guilty of assaulting his then girlfriend Fundiswa Mathibela with intent of causing grievous bodily harm in September 2020.

Thembinkosi was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for assaulting Fundiswa, later suspended for five years on condition that he does not repeat a similar offence.

He was also ordered by the court to pay a fine of R100 000 to People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA).
