The growth of a young one is often an important moment to parents. This milestone is usually highlighted with a party to celebrate.

For some, the first birthday is the most celebrated, as the baby moves from the stage of being an infant. This brings a lot of memories to the parents, from the labour pains to giving birth.
For others, each year is simply a reason to celebrate.

You might be looking to celebrate your bundle of joy as they reach a new age. Here are some ideas you can use to throw a successful birthday party.

Indoors or Outdoors: The first step is to establish whether you would like to have the celebration indoors or outdoors. This is usually influenced by the weather, as well as the overall vision you have for the day. You might be celebrating in summer, but the weather might be gloomy, cloudy and rainy; which might ruin your plans.

Theme: As much as a theme is not compulsory, it may be good to have one. This helps with the decorations and the dresscode. There are several themes to choose from, and they all differ for boys and girls. Some of them are influenced by the cartoons that are watched everyday by the kids, while others can be general colours. For example, one can ask the attendees to dress in pink and white, or blue and white.

Cake: What is a birthday celebration without a cake and candles? The cake can be decorated to match with the theme of the day. It can be homemade, store bought, or you can ask a pastry chef to bake one for you. The cake will give a chance for the birthday girl/boy to blow candles after the birthday song.

Food and refreshments: Food has to be a priority on the list, as feeding the small tummies is of utmost importance. Finger food, platters, hotdogs or chicken can be added to the menu, because they are easy to cater. These can be accompanied by small juice packs.

Party Packet: This seals the deal, it is sort of a ‘thank you‘ gesture for attending the party and it leaves the attendees with sweet memories of the party. The party packets are full of goodies that can be enjoyed at home.
